Gardner TruckWilkes Habitat for Humanity would like to thank Gardner Glass Products for the generosity and support.

Habitat’s mission is to fight poverty housing in Wilkes County and we can’t do it with out partners like Gardner.  Our goal is to provide safe, decent affordable housing to those who couldn’t otherwise afford a home. Gardner Mirros

Gardner’s donation of mirrors to the Habitat ReStore will go a long way towards raising funds for more Habitat homes.  Thanks to Gardner for their concern for affordable housing in Wilkes County, North Carolina.

I hope you all caught the story of how Sundry Works group has substantially blessed the ReStore. It is a great story and of course it has its characters. Bernabe De la Joya Plata is a shining star example of a hard worker. He has been faithfully working behind the scenes, often by himself, for the past 3 weeks.

We are going to miss him when he leaves this week. Please make a point to thank him for his work in helping to make our Restore the best possible ReStore it can be. I am grateful for his dedication and skill.

Annual Fundrasier Supper
Please come out and support Wilkes Habitat for Humanity by enjoying a “Homemade Chili Supper” sponsored by the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro (on Sixth & D Streets).  This annual event will be on Thursday, March 12 2009 from 4:30 ’til 7:30 PM in the John T. Wayland Fellowship Hall.

The supper will be $5.00 and all proceeds benefit Wilkes Habitat for Humanity.  Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.  Takeouts will also be available.  For tickets or more information, call 838-3044 or 838-5197.

What a blessing to see a corporation that started in Wilkes County give back so much to the country.  See the press release here.  This is a great story that celebrates Lowe’s, an important employer in our community. We should all be proud of Lowe’s success and generosity.

I am hoping to publish a couple of posts celebrating the community in which we live and serve. I am starting with WKBC’s Friday morning radio production of the “Home Town Opry.” A special thanks to Steve Handy and Ed Racey who give the ReStore live commercial spots at the Opry.

This multimedia production is great, click the photo below to see my friend Nathan Clendenin’s work.
