Hello Construction Volunteers:

Spring is here and the Magnet School will have their current Habitat project ready for us to complete very soon. We’re very excited – as we hope you are – to get back onto the job site and get to work.

We would like to share some of our needs and wishes as we approach this project:
-Volunteers to provide short devotionals
-Skilled workers, Crew Chiefs
-Subcontractor services
-New and gently used tools – our “New” tool box contains only a few lonely tools
-Volunteers – groups to provide drinks, snacks, lunches. Grocery store gift cards would also be welcomed.
-Prayers for the ministry of Wilkes Habitat for Humanity

Other needs Wilkes Habitat for Humanity maintains on a regular basis:
-Groups, churches and other organizations to partner with Wilkes Habitat to help sponsor and build a home.
-Land – building lots or small tracts to be developed

As always, thank you for your support and please feel to give us a call with your questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Gary Newman & Isaac Kerns

On a Local advocay note I just got the stats on how many homes Wilkes Habitat for Humanity has helped to build.  You might know that we have built 20 in Wilkes county.  You might not know that we tithe to international affiliates to help reduce poverty housing on a global scale.

Since 1992 our tithe  has enable 26 houses to be built internationally.  We should be proud that makes our over all number 46 homes.  How is that possible?  The international numbers in 2008 are based on $4,500 per home, however in 1992 dollars it was $1,500. Compare that to what we spend on US houses and you realize it is a great deal.    In our 13 year history we have given $51,000 to help build the Lord’s Kingdom globally.

I hope this post will get us thinking about Habitats model and how cool it is to be involved with such a ministry.   It is so cool that we should Advocate!
