We want to say a huge “Thank You!” to all of the folks who’ve bought tickets to tonight’s benefit concert with Balsam Range and special guest Larry Skipper & Students.

Ticket sales have been excellent, and so far we’ve got people traveling from 5 different states to see the show. We believe there will be some tickets available at the door, and it will probably be best to get them between 6:45 & 7:00 PM if you’ll be joining us.

Larry Skipper & Students will be hitting the stage earlier than originally stated because we’ve added more of his talented young folks to the lineup, so if you arrive by 7:00 PM you’ll be able to enjoy their talents.

Balsam Range is still on at 8:00 PM.

We’ve taken down the online ticket sales now that we’ve reached the day of the show – tickets are still be available at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore & Brame Huie Pharmacy until 5:00 PM.

Well folks, we’re really excited to announce that one of the greatest Bluegrass bands in the world is coming right here to Wilkes County to play a benefit concert for Wilkes Habitat for Humanity. Balsam Range hails from the beautiful mountains of Haywood County, NC, and is one of the fastest-rising acts in Bluegrass and Americana music.

Brame Huie Pharmacy is proud to present: A Habitat Holiday Bluegrass Show, featuring Balsam Range, with special guests Larry Skipper & Students – Friday, November 18th, 7:30 PM at the Stone Center for the Performing Arts in North Wilkesboro, NC.

Balsam Range was recently awarded the 2011 IBMA Song of the Year Award for Trains I Missed, from their hit album Last Train to Kitty Hawk, which was voted the #1 Bluegrass album of 2010 by the listeners of WNCW (broadcasting on 90.9 WSIF in Wilkesboro).

Tickets are $10.00, and we hope everyone will join us for this family-friendly opportunity to support Habitat for Humanity while also hearing some beautiful music.

The ReStore’s first silent auction ended at 1:00 PM today, and raised over $1800 in support of Habitat for Humanity’s work here in Wilkes County. There was some spirited bidding on several popular items, and a lot of folks walked away with some great deals, as is common here at the ReStore.

We also want to congratulate Lance McLean, winner of the raffle for the beautiful outdoor water foundation. A big thanks to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket and participated in the silent auction!

Ellie Elledge from North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church put together this nice slideshow of photographs from the Trinity 5 build, which has been posted to the church’s YouTube channel.

Thank you again to all of the people who supported this build from fundraising to framing and beyond. It’s great to be able to take a chance to look back over the entire scope of the build, and see the impact our volunteers have had on our community. The Summerlin Family is enjoying their new home, and we have received many compliments on the home from neighbors.

Students at Wilkes Central High School are in the final stages of organizing a Habitat for Humanity campus chapter for the school. A campus chapter is a student-led, student-initiated organization on a high school or college campus that partners with the local Habitat affiliate to fulfill the four functions of a campus chapter, which are  building, fundraising, advocating, and educating.

This is an exciting development in furthering Habitat’s work in Wilkes County, and we thank the many students who have dedicated a lot of time and energy to organizing this effort. So far, over 40 students have signed up to join the chapter. If you are a Wilkes Central student interested in getting involved you can get in touch with Donna Rollins, the club’s adviser.
