HABITAT FOR HUMANITY IS BUILDING IN SPARTA!

Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina has undertaken an ambitious project known as the “SECU Habitat Mountain to the Sea Challenge.” This 100-home challenge, which is to be completed by the end of February 2018, aims to build and sell an affordable Habitat home in each of 100 North Carolina counties.

Wilkes Habitat for Humanity will be overseeing the build in Alleghany County, NC, and is currently seeking qualified homebuyers to partner with our organization in making their dream of purchasing an affordable home come true.

Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry that builds and sells safe, decent, affordable homes to qualifying partner families & individuals. Our ministry is made possible through community support, donations, and volunteers who work alongside our homebuyers. Habitat is not a giveaway program: we sell our homes at cost using a zero-interest loan. The monthly Habitat mortgage payment in Alleghany County, NC is expected to be between $400.00 – $450.00 per month, including taxes and insurance. Qualifying homebuyers are selected based upon need, the ability to pay, and the willingness to partner.

The application period for Alleghany County closed on 5/26/2017 – stay tuned for more info about the building process, partner selection, and about volunteering.
